Guido Schweizer

The “Märlitram” Santa and driver, Guido Schweizer, is familiar with the enchanting side of Zurich.

For Guido, Zurich is a stage – particularly during the Advent period, when he is the Santa Claus of Zurich.

At Advent, tram driver Guido Schweizer becomes arguably the most famous Santa in the city: for in the weeks leading up to Christmas, he is at the helm of the enchanting old-timer “Jelmoli Märlitram” when it trundles through the festively lit Zurich. On the way, his passengers – children aged between 4 and 10 years – listen to Christmas stories told by the angel, sing Christmas carols, and are given a traditional “Tirggel” cookie as a gift. His costume, the Christmas illuminations, and the festively decorated streetcar transform Zurich into a stage, says Guido, who knows and reveals the particularly enchanting corners of the city.

Grande Café & Bar

“Whether for the first coffee of the day or a nightcap: the Grande is a wonderful place at any time of the day,” enthuses Guido.

Jules Verne Bar

The name of the bar alone transports you into another world – and once at the top, you are treated to an out-of-the-ordinary view of Zurich!

The stunning park is an oasis around the Museum Rietberg. What’s more, the composer Richard Wagner once lived in one of the three 19th-century villas.
